Schilling for 33rd Legislative District
ENDORSEMENTS

Kevin Schilling has cut his political teeth on the Burien City Council, tackling the toughest issues facing the region: the high cost of housing, homelessness and public safety. The Democrat’s unwillingness to back down from those challenges, even when his pragmatism ruffles feathers within his own party, is precisely the kind of leadership needed in the state House of Representatives. "Good government means delivering real results, and that’s exactly what Kevin Schilling has done as Mayor. He’s tackled housing and public safety with thoughtful, common sense policies, and I trust him to do the same in Olympia."

"The Center for New Liberalism and New Democracy proudly endorses Kevin Schilling as a Democrat who combines progressive values with practical effectiveness. Kevin understands that meaningful change comes through both bold vision and workable solutions.
Kevin is committed to an economy that expands opportunity for everyone, not just those at the top. He champions policies that foster innovation while ensuring the benefits are widely shared across communities. His focus on expanding apprenticeships and skills-based education reflects his understanding that we need multiple pathways to economic security.
What distinguishes Kevin is his balanced approach to governance. He believes in responsible public investment alongside a strong social safety net, recognizing both as essential Democratic priorities. He supports local businesses and economic development as engines for creating good jobs and strengthening middle-class communities.
We endorse Kevin Schilling because Washington needs a representative who brings together principled Democratic values with a practical focus on results. His approach bridges progressive ideals with action—exactly the leadership our state needs to move forward."

"The Center for Freethought Equality endorses Kevin Schilling as a candidate who believes in our core tenets: separation of church and state, protecting civil liberties, and advancing progressive policies. Policies like promoting pluralism, unequivocal moral and legal rights for bodily and reproductive autonomy and choice, scientific research and innovation, tackling climate change, and promotion of peace and cultural exchange."
"WACOPS is the largest organization representing Washington’s fully commissioned, rank-and-file officers. With over 6,000 members, support from WACOPS means support from law enforcement."

King County Police Officers Guild
"Schilling’s impressive views on public safety have earned the endorsement of the King County Sheriff's Officers Guild."

“Keeping our communities safe requires more than slogans. It requires supporting our law enforcement officers, and providing officers the with resources, tools, and training they need. It requires setting politics aside to make difficult decisions so we can all be safe and feel safe. Law enforcement leaders support Kevin Schilling because Kevin supports public safety.”

"Representative Obras’ claim to be a champion for public safety or law enforcement officers is appalling. In addition to voting in favor of nearly every anti-public safety bill that passed the House Community Safety Committee, Representative Obras never once met with representatives of Washington’s law enforcement leaders at any point during the 105-day legislative session, despite multiple requests to meet.
It is telling that the first piece of legislation bearing Representative Obras’ name is HB 1125, where he signed as the first co-sponsor, sought to release convicted felons out of prison early. According to a letter from the Superior Court Judges Association, “In year one of resentencing under [2S]HB1125, over 50 percent of the defendants who qualify for resentencing committed homicide. In year two, the number is over 70 percent.” This is not the kind of “champion” for public safety that Washington needs.
Representative Obras’ victory lap over HB 2015 is equally disturbing. There were no less than six different bills in the House during the 2025 legislative session that sought to provide more funding to Washington’s law enforcement agencies. Representative Obras co-sponsored, and “championed” the only one that would allow the entire $100 million to be spent without hiring a single new law enforcement officer.
Representative Obras’ campaign mailer is more of the same voter gaslighting that makes public safety so elusive in the Legislature. Keeping our communities safe requires more than slogans and self-aggrandizing campaign ads. Public safety requires setting politics aside to make difficult decisions so we can all be safe and feel safe. The Law Enforcement Administrators of Washington already supported Kevin Schilling for State Representative. Having seen Representative Obras’ campaign tactics, we support Kevin even more. Law enforcement leaders support Kevin Schilling because Kevin supports public safety."
